It is almost Christmas time! Christmas is supposed to be all about the miracle of Jesus’ birth. Christ emptied Himself and chose to be born amongst us, die and atone for our sins. Since the salvation, a gift of infinite value, is what Jesus offers each and everyone of us at Christmas; then why is He not celebrated from the rooftops on His birthday? I think this world is too occupied with the “Golden Calf Messiah.” This is a worldly messiah that when you rub him and demand gifts, he will produce and give you your heart’s desires. The problem with obtaining this messiah’s gifts is that they do not give love nor do they last for any length of time. It is hard even for Christians not to get caught up in the busyness of buying gifts and food that is often associated with this kind of worldly Christmas. In this sermon I will challenge you to put away the “Golden Calf Messiah” of “stuff” and embrace the true Messiah that forgives sins!
